The cowl is knitted bottom-up, seamlessly in the round using 3.25mm (UK10 - USA3) circular needles for ribbing & 3.75mm (UK9 - USA5) circular needles for the main pattern. Suggested length: 60cm / 24” (single), 80cm / 32” (double).
Size: Single: 72cm / 28” circumference x 22cm / 8.6” high. Double: 108cm / 42.5” circumference x 22cm / 8.6” high.
The Equinox pattern calls for twelve repeats of the main stitch pattern so the cowl can be twisted to double-wrap around the neck. Equinox can be easily re-sized to a standard single cowl size (eight repeats width-wise) or wider and taller for extra cosiness - just increase your cast-on number by 24 stitches per width-wise repeat.
Gauge: 26sts x 40 rounds per 10cm (over main pattern in the round after wet blocking). Exact gauge is not essential for this pattern and could be kitted in any DK, Worsted or even Aran for a bigger, bulkier cowl.
Yarn: Di Gilpin Lalland DK 100% Lambswool 175m / 190 yds. Sample shown in ‘Crowide’. 2 skeins (single), 3 skeins (double).
Yardage: Single: Approx 273m / 299 yards (78g) DK. Double: Approx 413m / 452 yards (118g) DK.
